Setting up lessons
Get in touch using the contact page to set up a regular lesson time. I will confirm via e-mail, and send you any pertinent information you'll need to find the studio, parking, etc. At this time I will also send you a student information form and contract for you to fill in, sign, and bring to your first lesson. If at any point you need to cancel and reschedule your lesson, please see below (and in the information I send you) for my strict cancellation policy.
Our work together
I expect you to come on time and prepared for your lesson. Lessons are one hour long. If you wish to work on a specific song, please bring it in your key. If you wish to record your lesson, please bring your own recording device, such as a laptop, iPhone or other smart phone with voice memo capability, or an mp3 or tape recorder. It’s an extremely helpful tool for practicing. You are welcomed and encouraged to bring an accompanist to the second half of your session (at your expense), but please notify me in advance. Finally, please practice in preparation for your lesson! Please don’t waste your lesson time by coming unprepared! I expect students to practice daily.
Payment for each month of lessons is due on the first calendar day of the month. If monthly payments are received after the 7th day of the month, you will be charged a $20 late fee. You may pay by cash, check, Venmo, or Paypal. If your check is returned by the bank, you will be charged a $45.00 fee. Even if you don’t have a lesson the first of the month, your payment is still due, and can be mailed to the studio, or sent via Paypal or Venmo. Please contact me for current rates.
Cancellation Policy and Rescheduling Lessons
If you cancel a lesson (with more than 24-hours notice), it is your responsibility to reschedule that lesson within the current paid month (preferably within the next week). If you do not, you forfeit that lesson fee. It will not carry over to the next month.
If I must cancel or reschedule, I will also try to do so by the end of the current paid month, as you are available, or as soon as possible. If we are unable to find a mutually agreeable time, I will carry over that lesson fee to the following month.
You may switch lesson times with another student if you must miss your regular lesson time.
No-shows and last-minute cancellations (less than 24-hours) will be charged the full lesson fee.
If you regularly cancel lessons, I reserve the right to remove you from my studio schedule. You may not receive any refund for lessons missed if cancellations are consistent or habitual.
